He Shou Wu (Fo-Ti)

Known as Fo-Ti, He Shou Wu also has latin name: polygonum multiflorum. In Chinese letters, it means "Mr He with black hair". Thus, it is said in China that the old man "Mr He" used Fo-Ti as supplements in his life and his hair was always black, his appearance is youthful, and he enjoyed longevity.

This plant originally grows in Mainland of China, but nowadays, they can be found in Japan and Taiwan region. He Shou Wu is regarded as a common herb supplement in China. They are usually boiled with black bean in traditional Chinese medicine. In Chinese medicine, black beans are believed as the introductory agent, which can help other medicine act on one's kidney. Chinese people believe Fo-Ti can help them solve the problems of greying hair, anti-aging, vaginal discharge, and erectile troubles. It is also believed by Chinese people that it is good for boosting energy, enhancing liver and kidney and so on.

He Shou Wu is showed that it can lower serum cholesterol, decrease hardening of the arteries, and improve immune function by studies.

However, some people, even not much, will be allergic to He Shou Wu and develop skin rash after taking it. Loose stools are the other side effects. Please check with your herbal practitioner before use.
